Another Place II (limited edition /150)
This art work is inspired by my Great Grandparents Country, Wiradjuri Country.
A significant place of importance to our family is the Mudgee region. This is where my great grandparents lived. The name Mudgee comes from the Wiradjuri word 'Moothi' which means- 'nested in the hills.'
Connecting with my Ancestors on Country is so special. It's an overwhelming feeling of belonging & pride but also a deep sadness for the way they were mistreated. When in the shadows of these these towering hills I wonder what they have witnessed, the beauty of our ancestors living and caring for country but also the brutality they faced.
The symbols across the bottom right represent our people by the rivers. Wiradjuri Country is bordered by rivers and Wiradjuri are known as the people of the rivers.
