Tree Carvings (limited edition)
Description
The six oval like shapes alongside the rivers represent tree carvings. They also represent the three generations of our family that have passed and the three generations of my family still here with us today. Tree carvings were used to mark burial sites, ceremonial sites as well as borders for country. Sadly there are very few remaining. Alot of these sacred trees were destroyed during colonisation as they were proof of Aboriginal ownership and occupancy of this land. The design within the carvings represent the towering hills and mountains. The two meeting places represent past and present. The river runs through the centre of this piece joining these meeting places. Past and present forever connected.
